Senior Adult Ministry
Our Primetimers are very active and love to travel on multiday trips.
The Senior Adult Ministries Team (SAMT) of Stoney Creek Church plans and implements several overnight trips each year. These trips range from two days to eight days in
length. These trips are in addition to our "day trips" which are scheduled almost every
month. Nothing in our experience builds and enhances friendships like our overnight
trips. Participating in these trips is an excellent way to see the country, remain
active, receive encouragement from other Christians, and invest in stronger
interpersonal relationships. The most important relationship we cultivate
is with our Lord. He is always central to our overnight adventures.
Wytheville, VA & Mayberry, NC…In the fall of 2011, we went on a multiday
trip to Wytheville, Virginia and surrounding areas. We enjoyed a great show at the Wohlfahrt Haus Dinner Theatre. We even experienced fresh snow falling as we
traveled up the mountain to Big Walker Lookout—a destination which offered spectacular views of the Appalachian Mountains. The observation tower on top of the mountain was completely iced-over and the area looked like a winter wonderland. We also spent
a day in Mayberry (Mt. Airy) visiting many of the Andy Griffith tourist sites such as
Floyd’s City Barber Shop, the Old Mayberry Jail, Snappy Lunch, the Andy Griffith
Museum, and even Andy Griffith’s childhood home. Everyone had a great
time and will remember this trip—and some of its surprises—for years to come.
Dutch Amish Country—Pennsylvania & Maryland…In May of 2012, we are
heading to Lancaster, Gettysburg, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Annapolis! We
will enjoy the newest show “Jonah” at the Sight and Sound Millennium Theater
in Lancaster, tour the Amish Country, Gettysburg Battlefield, and the
historic areas of Philadelphia. We will stop at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore
and also spend some time in Annapolis. This 4-day trip is going to be
exciting and educational. We hope you are making plans to
travel with us. Invite your family and friends!
Stop by the Senior Adult Information Center (Senior IC) located in
"The Connector" for information, itineraries, reservation forms,
ministry calendars, and more or call Pastor Barry for more information.
Be sure to check out the bulletin board at the “Senior IC” often. It is your
one-stop location for information on Primetimer events and activities.
