Whether God the Father completely turned his presence away from Jesus or not, as he hung from the cross, Jesus felt forsaken by God. In his own moment of suffering and desolation he shouted this psalm. Jesus’ quotation from this psalm shows us the importance of knowing God’s word and using it in our moments of greatest need.
